Gippsland Plain, located in the south east of Victoria, includes flat low lying coastal and alluvial plains with a gently undulating terrain dominated by barrier dunes and floodplains and swampy flats. The majority of the southern section of the East Gippsland Lowlands bioregion adjoins the Gippsland Lakes or the ocean. Rainfall is spread fairly evenly throughout the year, with the greatest rainfall in November and the lowest in August.
